Why Savannah Guthrie Says Her 4-Year-Old Daughter Inspired Her Own Body Confidence (Exclusive)

Savannah Guthrie is finding inspiration in her 4-year-old daughter, Vale.

ET spoke with the Today show co-anchor at The Hollywood Reporter's Most Powerful People in Media event in New York City on Thursday, where she opened up about her recent admission to Health magazine that she's had a "lifelong struggle" with body acceptance.

Guthrie told the magazine that she's "never once felt good about how I looked on the outside," but as she shared with ET, her young daughter is helping her change that.

"I want her to grow up as confident and as beautiful as she is right now at 4 years old," she said. "When you have little kids, it isn't what you tell them, it isn't what you say -- it's what you do, it's your example. So, I really want to set a good example for her."

"She's inspiring me," Guthrie declared.

The 47-year-old journalist, who also shares 2-year-old son Charley with husband Michael Feldman, said she wanted to open up about her body image issues for other women as well.

"I think a lot of women have that feeling where they look in the mirror and think, 'I wish I looked like this or that,' she explained. "I'm 47 right now, and I just feel like I don't want to do that anymore. I think talking about it and putting voice to it is the first step in not doing that anymore, and to feel grateful and happy for our bodies and what they can do."

Guthrie may be working on her confidence, but she's certainly killing it. She made THR's list of the 35 Most Powerful People in New York Media 2019, alongside fellow Today co-anchors Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin. See more on Guthrie in the video below.
