Adam Levine Celebrates His 40th Birthday With a Basketball Game on the LA Lakers Court -- Watch!

Now this is how you celebrate turning 40!

On Tuesday night, after the Portland Trailer Blazers managed to end the Los Angeles Lakers’ season with a 3-pointer from Moe Harkless right at the buzzer, something truly extraordinary happened. Suddenly, Adam Levine (now sporting a mohawk!) headed down to the court.

The Maroon 5 frontman, who actually turned 40 on March 18, arranged for a game among friends at Staples Center to mark the milestone. Levine and his pals all wore custom Lakers jerseys for the game featuring the number 40. The JumboTron even read, "Happy 40th Birthday Adam!" and kept track of the pickup game between Team Adam and The Other Team.

And the few journalists and spectators who stayed for the game couldn’t help but gush about the surprising turn of events they witnessed.

"This might be the most entertained I’ve been at a Lakers game in a while," Los Angeles Times reporter Arash Markazi wrote alongside a clip of Adam in action on Twitter.

Dave McMenamin, a reporter for ESPN, was on hand, writing alongside a photo of the game: "Perfectly appropriate cap to a truly bizarre day in Laker Land? Adam Levine celebrating his 40th birthday with an 11 p.m. pickup game on the Staples Center court."

Besides the Lakers’ 101-104 defeat, the day also marked the abrupt departure of Magic Johnson from his role as team president. Johnson actually alerted the media before informing Lakers owner Jeanie Buss of his intentions.

As for Levine, this isn’t the first time the hitmaker has shown his Laker pride. He is regularly spotted courtside at games, often alongside wife Behati Prinsloo.
